Fast and Furious
We’ve been busy! We are thrilled to have experienced so much growth recently through our programs, the number of girls served, volunteers, community events and our new spiffy website!
So, to catch you up on the last several months:

Our GOTR girls at the Frostbite 5K
- There was Diva Night at Fleet Feet Sports, where a truly fabulous time was had by all, and $800 in scholarships were raised!
- The December 12th, 2009 Frostbite 5k was aptly named. It was really cold! But 66 girls and their volunteer Running Buddies crossed the finish line with warm spirits, and EVERYONE looked pretty in pink!
- There were end of season celebrations, the holidays, and a Stephen Taylor-sponsored Fitness and Triathlon Expo at Baptist Wellness Center which benefited Girls on the Run Nashville. It was so much fun and Fearless Abigail came out to talk about her experience with Girls on the Run.
- Board of Directors Chair Jessica Bliss and I were both educated and inspired at the GOTR International Summit in Austin Texas.
- 15 women attended Coaches training Jan. 23rd at East Park Community Center and are now hard at work serving 84 girls at seven Spring programs in Davidson and Williamson counties.
- We received rave reviews for the Girls on the Run water stop/cheering station at the Nashville Predators Fangtastic 5k February 13.
Now if only we could do something about the snow days! We never missed a day of Girls on the Run in our first 5 seasons; so far this spring there have been 7 school days canceled!
XXOO
Jennifer
Jennifer Kimball, Girls on the Run Nashville Council Director, was reading Runner’s World one day when she saw a photo of Girls on the Run founder Molly Barker surrounded by a sea of young girls, all jumping in the air with huge grins on their faces and thought to herself, “I want to do that.” And, with the help of many other interested women (and a few good men), she did. In the fall of 2007 Girls on the Run Nashville began with 15 girls at Percy Priest Elementary and now Jennifer is the one surrounded by the happy faces of 84 girls participating in seven Spring 2010 programs in Davidson and Williamson counties. Jennifer always has a smile for the girls who she says both surprise, inspire her and make her laugh. Her passion, energy, care, determination and love for the girls and the program is truly contagious.
